Recovery chips
I apologise if this post seems rather trivial when compared with some of the extremely moving posts on this forum, but I was wondering whether anybody could help? I have been attending SLAA meetings for 2 weeks and so far, managed to stay sober for that time. At this stage, counting the number of days sober is a big motivating factor for me as I don't want to go back to day zero. Additionally, although just a piece of plastic, I find that keeping the welcome chip near me when I am at home reminds me that I am an addict, that I am not alone, and not to act out. For these reasons, having my first recovery chip would mean a lot to me. Unfortunately, the meeting I attend doesn't have any and, although reasonably priced on the SLAA (US) website, the postage and packaging is pretty hefty.I was therefore wondering if it was possible to purchase these in the UK or from any other meetings?ThanksNick

Hi Nick, congratulations on your welcome chip and getting to slaa. Most meetings in London buy chips from the central UK literature and then give them out at meetings to celebrate sobriety dates when they are reached. In slaa HOW these are determined with your sponsor, setting your bottom lines and keeping your bottom line sobriety. I am not sure how this may work outside of London. I hope this sheds a little light. Remember this is only my experience of the meetings that I attend. good luck and keep on. It does work if you work it.sj
