Hi there,I am new to SLAA and have been doing a lot of personal work over the past 18 months, all of which culminated in me going to my first meeting about a month ago. I really want a sponsor so I can start moving towards healing and growing. What is the best way to find one, as there are no women at the meeting I go to and I want a same sex sponsor.I hope someone can help meThank you
Hi,Perhaps try another
Hi,Perhaps try another meeting, and ask one of the ladies there if they could take you through the first 3 steps (or try a SLAA HOW meeting). That would allow you to get started in the programme.I have changed my sponsor 3 times over the last year, I think its really important to find someone what you will beable to talk to honestly. That may take some time so get a temporary sponsor if you are struggling.Prof
Hi - I'd suggest you keep
Hi - I'd suggest you keep going to meetings : try different ones if you can. There are many people standing up and offering to sponsor at the London HOW meetings, and many, many more happy to make outreach calls if you can make it into London. The other thing to do is to build up the number of people you make outreach calls to: ask people you know, if they have women SLAA members they call out to, and if they'd ask them if it would be OK if you called them....and repeat the process until you have 5-10 women you call regularly. Hopefully one of them would be able to sponsor you, or will know someone who can.
