I'm new in need of help, been advised to join and go to meetings, if i go to one as early as possible can i switch to another venue if i find one nearer to where i live?
thanks again for the messages and encouragement, I did go to my 1st meeting on Fri, and know now how its not a curse, problem or fault whatever with just me, but some thing more people have similiar addictions, felt and feel there is now hope
Hi, just wanted to wish you luck, getting to your first meeting is always an intimidating prospect but so worth it. Just to re-iterate what has been said, if you are in london there are so many fantastic meetings and its a good idea to try a few and see which ones suit you. There are two different types, SLA and SLA HOW. I attend SLA HOW and these meetings are great, its recommended that you try 6 before deciding whether the fellowship is for you and that you attend at least 3 a week if you do decide to commit, I have found it really useful at the beginning to research the meeting timetable on the website, try as many as possible, pick the ones I really like and attend them regularly that way you get to know lots of faces and start to feel comfortable very quickly. For me this has been really important and helped me establish a trust with those in the fellowship making it easier to share honestly and to get lots of phone numbers for the all important outreach calls. I wish you all the best, you are about to start on a truly worthwhile journey. Take care.
You can go to any slaa meeting that is near you. Or indeed to any other 12stepsexual compulsion or relationship type fellowship. The thing is you need to get around other people who understand where your coming from and who havea similar problem or issue. If your in London then there are loads of meetings togo to. If you are in another part of the UK or Ireland then meetings can be a bitthin on the ground. However check out what is happening in your area. If you can't find a meeting then advertise on this site asking for others in your areato assist you to set up a new meeting. Good luck and your not alone. cwfolk
