London meeting - for a First timer

Hi,I started reading this web site a few months ago, and I now feel that I need to attend a meeting and start my process into understanding what is wrong with me.I looked at the list of meetings for London, and I am a bit confused as per the "general" or first time meetings , as they all seem for people already into the steps, can you help me find my next meeting ?I cannot do during the day but after 6pm is OK. Central London is better but I can go North or elsewhere within commute too. Thanks for your help.

Hi FrankyI attend the SLA

Hi FrankyI attend the SLA HOW meetings and any of these are open to new comers, to explain how it works anyone is welcome in the meeting, there is a book that is passed around and you write your name in the appropriate column depending on whether you have more or less than 14 days sobriety. As a newcomer you will write your name in less than 14 days and in most cases will not be required to share at the meeting as those with 14 days or more share first. You will be invited to introduce yourself as a newcomer at the meeting and at the end there will be opportunities to take phone numbers, get a sponsor and buy literature all of which are essential for the programme. After six I would highly recommend the Waterloo meeting on Tuesday, the Covent Garden meeting on Thursday and if you can go north, the hampstead meetings on monday and friday. As SLA is my primary I have embarked on 90 meetings in 90 days but I think it is recommended that you do at least 3 a week. It is also suggested that you try out 6 meetings before deciding whether the fellowship is for you. Perhaps someone else can advise you on the regular SLA meetings as I only attend HOW however I would highly recommend this branch of the fellowship. Good luck and I hope this helps you a little.
