I posted here last year but
I posted here last year but I'm back wondering if anyone local to Belfast ever reads these threads.
After searching without success last year I tried to stop on my own and for a few months I was able to stop the meets, although I couldn't stop looking at porn online. Of course after a few months I had real difficulty keeping the urges under control and around spring time I started meeting people again. 2010 has pretty much been a battle with myself stopping and starting again numerous times but I really want to stop and also propose to my partner. I don't want to be married and playing away so I know I need to start getting help.
I've also started paying for escorts which I've done a couple of times over the year and things really came to a head recently when I attended a sex party involving a number of escorts and paying men.
So this is a serious cry for help. I've lost so much of my life over the past 10 years chasing the next buzz, I do want to stop permenantly. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

HiI was wondering has anything been set up in Northern Ireland, particularly in the Belfast area? I've tried looking but can't find anything. I'd also emailed a therapist on BASRT but never got a reply. I'd really like to stop, but I know I can't do it alone. Any help or advice would be appreciated as I no longer know where to go.

Try the slaa ireland website. The are very careful about anonymity. Dublin has lots of meetings but you have to arrange to be met beforehand by 2 slaa members. I am going to be in Belfast late nov/early december and would appreciate any info on the belfast meetings.

Well done in reaching out. Have you followed all of the threads on this forum relating to the meetings in Ireland? There are email addresses and notices up on the Global Connections thread which relate to meetings. I believe Belfast has its own meetings too. Meetings in Ireland are notoriously anonymous - so anonymous in fact that they are very, very difficult to find, so I understand your frustration.
You can always create your very own meeting, however, by advertising on this site and some other sites - you only initially need one other person. There are starter kits and meetings formats available to download on this site for free. If you do create a new meeting, you can advertise its details on this site to help you attract newcomers and find local support. Without a comprehensive system of listing and dissemination of meetings details, SLAA will remain difficult to reach.
